Bay Buddy
Not a second dashboard. Bay Buddy shows the vibe of one ThermalTrace space: cozy, drafty, shiver, panic, offline, or hero. Devices, alerts, history, and claims stay on ThermalTrace.
What it shows
- Does: live garage mood from your existing probes, freeze margin, time-to-freeze, door and leak signals, after you Connect with the same ThermalTrace account.
- Does not: replace Overview, Devices, Alerts, History, or the claims pack. Those stay on thermaltrace.dev (and on the Android companion / PWA).
Install
Linux AppImage / deb / rpm, Windows MSI, and macOS DMG ship on GitHub Releases.
- Create a free ThermalTrace account and connect at least one probe (or the demo pull feed).
- Download Bay Buddy for your OS and install.
- Click Connect in Bay Buddy, sign in on thermaltrace.dev in the browser, and return to the desktop window when the handoff finishes.
- Optional: claim a Claim puck (RP2040-Zero) from the connected window to light bay moods on the desk.

What is Bay Buddy?
Bay Buddy is the ThermalTrace desktop companion (Windows, macOS, Linux). It shows glanceable freeze and flood moods for one space after you sign in with your ThermalTrace account. It is not a second full dashboard.
Where do I download Bay Buddy?
GitHub Releases for thermaltrace-bay-buddy: Linux AppImage/deb/rpm, Windows MSI, and macOS DMG. Start at thermaltrace.dev/bay-buddy.
Does Bay Buddy replace the web dashboard?
No. Devices, alerts, history, claims, and household settings stay on thermaltrace.dev, the Android app / PWA, or ThermalTrace Desktop (thermaltrace.dev/desktop). Bay Buddy is a mood glance for the bay you already monitor.
Can Bay Buddy drive a claim puck?
Yes. After you connect, the Claim puck panel can register and claim an RP2040-Zero, then drive its LED from /api/bays/{bay}/mood. Setup: thermaltrace.dev/claim-puck.
